Last year was my first year being a stay at home mom, but "stay at home" I didn't... like ever. We were always out and about at playdates, parks, museums, storytimes, etc. All of that was great, but I realized it was wearing me out to always be on the go with Jace. So one of my recent goals was to commit to less, and spend more one on one time with Jace doing "everyday things" and fun at home crafts. There will still be plenty of fun outside of the house activities... but just not everyday anymore.

| Jace at school, learning about the letter K. |
This week we didn't do much at all... except go to "school" (aka work for me) three of the days. The rest we spent at home, which was really nice to do now that life is getting back to normal after our move. On Wednesday I decided to give Jace a haircut. Because his hair grows SO FAST, I decided I needed to cut off a lot more than last time. It's so short! It's not a huge change in the front, but the back is nice and short and "boy-ish" now. Now I can see his cute little face more, and I love it :)
We also hit the thrift store this week and grabbed a few new books and clothes for Jace. Truth be told, I buy almost all of his clothes and books from the thrift store. Some people aren't into thrift stores because things are "used". If you find a good thrift store, and are willing to hunt... they're great! There are some things I won't buy used, but kids clothing and books are definitely not them. Jace has a ton of books, but I like it that way... I think building a big library of books for him (and future kids) is great. On this trip we picked up 8 new books, a Ralph Lauren Polo, some Old Navy skinny jeans, a Dockers 4 piece suit, some perfect condition Stride Rite shoes in the next size up, "Jenga" wooden blocks (we have been playing this game with random wooden blocks so it'll be nice to actually have the right ones since he really enjoys the game!), and a Thomas hoodie. We stopped in at Subway on our way home and split a sub, I was shocked Jace actually ate his half of the sandwich and liked it! These are big things in picky eating world. :)

We've been spending some time together in the kitchen too. We tried our hand at making apple chips and banana chips. Jace loved sprinkling cinnamon over the apple slices, and "painting" lemon juice on the bananas. He loves being a little helper in the kitchen. While we waited for our fruit chips to bake, we made a breakfast smoothie sans dairy. He hasn't had any dairy in the last 3 days. We're doing a little experiment with different things in his diet to see if any of them could be causing some of his hyperactive or agressive behavior.

We've got some other fun things going on over here, but there are 4 loads of laundry waiting to be folded and put away while Jace naps on the couch (sigh, at least it's a nap!)... so I'll update on those later!

Good for you Katrina. I think it is great that you are spending more time with Jace and slowing down a bit. I totally understand. When I first moved here I jumped in doing all the functions, but after the holidays I have been so tired and have enjoyed being home with Gianna a bit more. Although I do miss the mom interaction. I love the apple chip idea. So great. I am gonna try that. Tahnks.
