We hopped in the car on Monday evening for a little last minute road trip. Tate had a couple of work things to do Tuesday on Hilton Head Island, SC and on Wednesday in Jacksonville, FL so he suggested Jace and I come along! We don't get the oppurtunity to go on trips with him because he's usually flying and working long hours, but this one worked out perfectly. It was really nice for Jace and I to get a little change of scenery and get to do some things that we don't have available in the Charleston area!
Monday we stayed at a hotel on the ocean and ate at a fun island restaurant in Hilton Head (which is just north of Savannah, GA and less than two hours from us.) Overnight and into the morning it stormed so we didn't actually hang out on the beach. We got breakfast as a family before Tate had to work and then Jace and I did a little shopping and stumbled across a historic park and had a picnic and walked the trails. Once Tate was done working we headed another two hours south to Jacksonville, FL and got some dinner. Jace had a bit of an upset stomach the first 24 hours of our trip which was pretty "eventful" but we were glad to see by the time we were in Florida he seemed back to normal.
Wednesday morning Tate dropped Jace and I off at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. I was so excited when I saw that there was a zoo since we don't have one very close to us in Charleston unfortunately. It was a total blast... I don't think I've ever seen Jace so happy. The zoo was amazing, I'll post lots of pictures as soon as I get the chance. Tate picked us up when he was done working and we hit the Atlantic beach in Neptune before heading to Dick's Wings for an early dinner. Jace slept the majority of the almost four hour drive home to Summerville, and still went to bed at his normal time too. How lucky!
Anyways... It was a fun little spur of the moment vacation for Jace and I. My camera battery is recharging so I will upload pictures tomorrow and share more details then. :)
