I can't believe it's Tuesday already. Time is flying so fast and in 2.5 weeks my baby will be turning one!! I'm sure I will go into panic mode last minute with all the cooking and decorating, but I'm so excited to celebrate his first year of life. It's been a crazy ride!
This weekend was great. On Friday night, after I got off work, I went and got my hair done. It was LONG overdue... I've only had it cut once since I had Jace and I think he was only about 2 months at the time, and came with me to the salon (not exactly relaxing!). It was so nice to be able to get some time to myself and to catch up with my friend, Matt, who I went to cosmetology school with. He works at Moxie salon in Midway and does great work. I felt a little too "mom-ish" when I went in so I asked him to give me a change. Boy did he ever! My hair is normally dark brown and down my back (up until my little DIY chop). Now I'm blond (well in a brunette kind of way) and it's cut right below my shoulders.
Jace hung out at home with Tate and Tate's sister, Mandi. Mandi brought Jace over a toy cell phone, and he's obsessed with it. There's a button to record your own voice saying something and I recorded "Hi Jace! This is mommy, how are you today?" and I cringe everytime I hear him push the button. Does my voice really sound like that?! Yikes.
On Saturday we went to the car dealership when I got off work and Tate bought a new car. I forgot to mention he sold his old one the day before, which was an adventure in itself. It's nice to have that checked off the list of things to do before we relocate.
We, of course, wanted to drive around and get a feel for the new car so we drove around for a while and wound up at TGIFriday's. We split a wedge salad, potstickers, chicken fingers, fries, dragonfire chicken with jasmine rice, vanilla bean cheesecake, and peanutbutter chocolate pie. My mouth is watering again just remembering what delicious evening it was! Jace was hamming it up the whole time we were there. He loves sitting in a high chair and eating at the table with us, it makes him feel very involved. Everytime one of the servers walked by he tried talking to them loudly in baby talk. He definitely had alot to say. Our server told us we were in trouble and that he reminded her of one of her four children that was speaking in full sentances by 15 months. "No, I want to go to the park NOW, mommy!"
Sunday morning Jace and I headed over to our mommy group friends house so that I could do her hair. Jace played with her daughter while I foiled. He's a little timid when he's in an unfamiliar place, but he really likes to interact with other kids close to his age. Afterwards, we headed over to Tate's parents house and had a delicious dinner, Pizza Hotdish with salad and dessert. Tate's mom is an awesome cook, I'd like to raid her entire recipe collection. Jace really enjoyed seeing his grandparents and walking around in their big open basement. He was obsessed with his doggie this day, so we brought him along and he just kept saying "doggie" all night. Towards the end of the night Tate brought out a box of crackers for himself, and immediately Jace was at his feet saying "cracker, cracker". He definitely knows what he likes :)
Speaking of liking crackers... Jace has definitely gotten into a picky eating stage. He used to eat whatever was given to him and not ever hesitate. Now, he's started throwing foods he doesn't like on the floor. Groan. I've heard this is a normal toddler stage that kids go through and it will probably continue until he's 3. Oh well... I don't blame him. Crackers are definitely better tasting than green beans!
On Monday, Micah didn't come over for daycare, which was SO NICE. I was able to take Jace out and run around getting things done all morning. I headed to Woodbury to see a friend for lunch, got an oil change, picked up a clearance halloween costume for Jace (elmo of course!) and stopped in at my mom's so she and my brother could see Jace walking. Then we came home and had a family dinner of TaterTot Hotdish and ice cream cones. (What? It was rainy... we needed comfort food!)
Now it's Tuesday and Micah is crying hysterically while Jace plays... he's crying for no reason, so I put him down for a nap, but that doesn't seem to be working. Sigh. Better go figure out a different solution.
