I posted earlier this week about the start of our weekly alphabet themed learning. Today wraps up the end of "A" week, you can read the first part of our week
here . Earlier this week we worked on A is for Alligator and Apple crafts. Today we finished the week with A is for Airplane, Ants, and Alien crafts. Jace had a snack of
applesauce before getting started and then we traced the letter A with cheerios again, before eating those. He enjoyed this more earlier in the week, this time he wanted to skip right ahead into eating. :)
We started with our
alien craft. Jace first colored the "A" and then glued little squares of construction paper to it. Then he added glitter and moved onto the
ant craft while it dried. For the ant craft I cut out a tan colored "A" for an anthill, and he used his pointer finger to make three little dots with finger paint all over it for the ants. While that dried we added pipecleaner antennas and black eyes and mouth to our alien. Then we added feet and antennas to our ants.

We also did an "A is for airplane" craft with a paper towel roll and some cardboard. After I glued the airplane together I realized I should have used the roll for the base of the airplane and the cardboard for the wings, but oh well... Jace didn't seem to mind. He had fun painting his airplane anyways. :)
Then we washed up and my helpful little
assistant helped me make a snack of smoothies and
ants on a log. True to toddler form, Jace made sure not to actually eat any of the "log"! After snacktime we built a foam alphabet floor puzzle and searched for things beginning with the letter "A" around the playroom.

After naptime we're going to go outside and look for things that begin with "A" like ants, acorns, airplanes... who knows, we may even see an alligator! We'll finish up our week reading a few ABC books and watching an alphabet DVD. Happy Friday!
