We just got home from a 10 day trip to Minnesota to see family, so the weekend before we left we thought we would throw Jace a little second birthday bash costume party (since it fell on Halloween weekend). We knew Jace would have a little dinner with the grandparents and aunts and uncles back "home" but really wanted him to be able to celebrate with all of his little friends as well. While everything didn't go exactly as planned,
(the weather was unseasonably cold and windy so all of our fun outdoor activities had to be tossed aside and everyone was crammed in our 1250 sq ft house... oh, and Tate had pnemonia and barely made it through the party before realizing he needed to go to the ER, that's a whole different story though!) Jace had an absolute blast and was spoiled with fun, attention, and gifts. So that's all that matters! I feel so lucky that we've made so many wonderful friends since moving to South Carolina.
We had a bone scavenger hunt for the kids, which was inside instead of outside like originally planned, with prizes at the end. I had made a large pumpkin cut out for a "pin the stump on the pumpkin" game... but that never happened because of the weather. We had lots of random snacks like pumpkin cream cheese wontons with caramel dip, sausage stars, mini burger bites, two kinds of garlic bread sub sandwiches, veggies and hummus, chips and dip and corn salsa, stuffed shells... and chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries, and noodles for the picky eaters in the group. Oh, and of course there was candy... and cake and ice cream. I actually attempted to make a pumpkin shaped cake, because I knew Jace would love it... but it didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped. ;)
