There was a nice break from the rain on Wednesday morning, which worked out perfectly for us. We hosted our first meetup with the moms group that we started. It was supposed to be a walk around historic Summerville and playing in the park, but since it stormed all night I was worried we would have to cancel. Thankfully the morning turned out to be super sunny and it hit 72 degrees. Perfect weather for a walk and play! It was great getting out of the house and meeting some other moms in the area, they were so nice! Alot of the moms are also new to the Charleston/Summerville area so they were also enjoying getting out and making friends. It was great to see how much people were actually enjoying themselves, I'm always nervous people will think our activities are lame and drop out of the group. :)
The next day Jace and I went to Monkey Joe's with a few of the moms and kids. Monkey Joe's is an indoor inflatable playland in North Charleston. The kids were having so much fun jumping and sliding around. Jace was not having it though... he was having a rough day. The only explanation is his molars. He seemed tired, his cheeks were a little rosey and he was SUPER sensitive. He also refused a nap when we got home, which is not like him. He ended up napping like a champ later in the day though, and then sleeping in until 10 am this morning. Awesome! I stayed in bed this morning until almost 9:30, which was amazing since I had been nursing a migraine for the last two days. I woke up feeling 100% back to normal, thank god because we have a long list of things to get done around the house this weekend.
Tate was in Nashville this week and was supposed to be gone Tuesday morning through Thursday evening. I talked to him alot Wednesday through text and phone conversations but was shocked when at 7:30 pm on Wednesday our front door started moving. Of course, panic mode hit and I thought someone was breaking in, because I'm paranoid. But no, it was just Tate, home a day early to surprise us! His boss had been snowed in and couldn't make it to their meeting so he caught an earlier flight home and all day had been waiting at the airport keeping it a secret. Jace was super excited to see him walk in the front door, and I was too once my heart quit racing! Tate also surprised us with gifts. He brought me a box of delicious chocolates, which I'm not at all ashamed to say were gone an hour later. He also brought home a cute pink hoodie that says "Nashville" across it. It's a less than subtle hint that he's getting sick of seeing me walking around the house in baggy gray sweatshirts everyday. He even bought me xs yoga pants last week. I guess he figures if I'm going to be comfortable all day I can at least not be an eye sore for him. (Although, I don't find anything even REMOTELY attractive about my thighs in those skin tight yoga pants. It's actually pretty disturbing... time to bring the eliptical in and dust it off!)
We finally get our couch and office desk today after waiting
We have a long list of things to do this weekend that we've been putting off. Hopefully the weather cooperates because a few of those things can't be done if it's raining. Our to-do list includes: installing a screen door on patio sliding door, installing storm door on front door, re-staining patio furniture, painting Jace's bedroom walls and ceiling and window sills (grr, who paints windows and ceilings??!), installing cupboard clips on kitchen and bathroom cupboards, touch-up painting various rooms where curtain rods have been taken down and where paint got on the ceilings (once again grr to the previous renters/owners/whoever), installing white curtains on inside of office closet to replace closet doors that were taken down to accomidate 42 inch TV (long story... ha!)... and other fun projects. Here's hoping the weather doesn't get in our way!
Jace and I took a few pictures this week around the house, but didn't really take any while we were out and about. We baked sugar cookies this week and made fun shapes with them (some turned out better than others!). It seems like we've been baking cookies every week, so maybe that's contributing to the yoga pants problem, haha! I also tried to capture the fun he was having with playdough, but it was impossible. He liked squishing the dough, but mostly he just enjoyed stacking the colored containers. Oh, and I also took pictures of him enjoying pancakes for dinner, because who doesn't like breakfast for dinner?? Hope everyone has a great weekend and if all works as planned I will have some fun pictures to add once we tackle all of our projects... I'm most excited about Jace's big boy bedroom and then fun color we're doing in there. It's called Buzz Blaster Blue, it's part of the Toy Story collection in Behr's Disney line. It's pretty vibrant so I was ecstatic that the owners gave us the ok to paint it, but hey they obviously don't have a problem with funky wall colors. :)
Stacking dough...
Making cookie shapes with mommy. Apparently a little freaked out about falling off the chair in this picture :)
Laughing at a text he just got. ;)
Mmm... pancake dinner.
Loved the pancakes... no syrup yet tho!
