Monkeez and Cookies

A couple of nights ago I had a few friends over for a little girls night fiesta.  I made some burritos and tacos and we sat around talking all night.  It's so nice to be able to relax with old friends and spend time with them before we move.  My friend Emily brought Jace over the cutest little Christmas gift.  Her company supplies the Monkeez brand stuff that you've probably seen in different gift shops.  I love all of their stuff, it's so adorable and fun.  She's gotten Jace a few Monkeez things over the last year, but last night she brought over a monkey glitter globe that lights up and changes colors.  He loved it!  But, true to toddler form, then threw it on the floor and broke it 30 seconds after she gave it to him.  Nothing a little hot glue can't fix!  :)

I've been getting excited to decorate Jace's big boy room at our new house, and I think I may use the Monkeez as inspiration.  Monkey's are Jace's favorite animal right now anyways, he even prefers them to "goggies"!  I've been debating whether or not to bother bringing the crib down to Charleston and setting it up for only a couple more months of use, but I think he's too young and destructive to be trusted in a toddler bed without walls to keep him in!  So it will be a big boy room that just so happens to still have a crib in it for now.  I already have my eye set on a cute toddler bed for him at Ikea when it's time though.

Yesterday afternoon Jace and I baked a batch of vegan oat chipper cookies.  I took an old cookie recipe I've always made and substituted oil for butter and a mixture of mashed bananas, applesauce, and baking powder for eggs.  They actually turned out really delicious, and Jace loves them.  It was his first cookie experience!  He helped me mix the batter a little but wasn't that interested in it, so I gave him some stamps to play with to keep him out of the way of the hot oven.  He loved stamping but as soon as I turned my back he started putting the ink in his mouth and drooling it all over his white shirt staining it.  Good thing it was non-toxic!  I swear Jace is all boy, he's NEVER clean it seems.  No matter what, he's always getting into something and covered in ink, drool, dirt, food, ANYTHING!  Oh well, he might not be the cleanest, neatest tornado toddler, but at least he has fun while making a mess.

Fun with Stamps.
