We heard back from the property management company in Charleston this morning, and we got our house! What a sigh of relief. We are moving in three weeks and still weren't sure if we were the first people to put in an application on the house we chose. It had been on the rental market for about two weeks, so we got lucky that it was still available when we got there. When we first got home from our trip we were both so overwhelmed we weren't even sure if we'd made the right decision and nothing about the move seemed very exciting. After a few nights of sleep and getting back to our normal routine, we couldn't be more excited about our decision! We definitely chose the right house for us.
So... which one did we choose? The Summerville house of course! The house is in a safe newer neighborhood right on the edge of Summerville, just a short freeway drive to downtown Charleston (about 20 minutes) and to the coast (about 30 minutes). Summerville has a population of about 50,000 and has it's own historical downtown area, of course it's nothing compared to Charleston's downtown, but it's a cute area right around the corner from our house. The house is also conveniently located right near every restaurant or store you could ever want. Also, it's only about a 15 minute drive from the Charleston International Airport. There is a community swimming pool right around the corner from the house, that will be really nice for Jace and I on all those hot summer days!
The house has everything we need, and just needs a few personal touches and some decorating (and painting!) to make it feel like home. I'm excited to start planning how we're going to decorate. We're also going to need to buy some appliances and new furniture when we get down there, since we're not bothering to move some of our old stuff with us. I'm looking forward to going shopping for all of that stuff and to start some house projects!
The moving company will be coming out on Friday to assess how much stuff we have to move with us, and do a brief inventory of items. They said they will be coming out to start packing our stuff on January 3rd. That's less than three weeks from now! I guess for liability purposes they have to pack all of the boxes for us and it will take them about 5 business days to do all of that, load up the truck, and drive to Summerville. We should be settled in our new place by January 10th. They will be moving one of our cars down there for us, but we decided to drive the other one and make a road trip down there, instead of flying. (To be honest I don't EVER want to fly again after Jace's performance on the way home from Charleston last week, haha!) They'll be paying for us to stay in hotels and eat out during our road trip down, so we'll have to start planning what route we're taking and what stops we'll be making. This is all going to happen very quickly considering the holidays will be jam packed with 5 different Christmas gatherings, Micah's birthday, my birthday, and New Years...

yay, so excited that you got the house you wanted... but, sad that you're leaving. What did Jace do on the plane?
Jace was FINE on the plane!! Dont let that detour you! Hes just a toddler! No one remembers! except you!
You should try and pit stop in Dolly wood.. Im not really sure if its on the way.. it might be kind of out of the way but i hear its GREAT! with amazing food!!!
How exciting
Jodi- Jace just was overly tired on the trip home and whined, kicked, headbutted, hairpulled, cried, yelled, and flung himself about the ENTIRE way...
I didn't even care about anyone else or what they thought at that point, I just thought I was going to lose my mind :)
Wahoo! Congratulations! I am sad that you are leaving though- :( It will be a big BUT good change for you Katrina. :D We are wishing you a smooth move and transition into your new life! <3
