This morning my boys took me out for breakfast, and Jace was really well behaved at the restaurant so that we were actually able to enjoy our food and have a conversation without rushing! When we were waiting for our table, another little boy was trying to get his dad to win him a stuffed action figure from one of those claw game machines in the lobby. His dad ended up winning him Spiderman, but the boy didn't want that one (I think that's what they call the terrible two's, hehe) so the dad gave Spiderman to Jace. It was so nice of him to do, and I think part of the reason Jace was so patient at breakfast was because "spidey" was being quiet and well-behaved too. Either that or the pancakes and breakfast potatos served as a pretty good distraction. ;)
Jace got me a perfect Mother's Day card, he has such a sense of humor! He also developed some cute pictures of the two of us and gave me a gift card to pick out a new swim suit that fits (much needed!). So after breakfast I went shopping for a new suit by myself. It's amazing how much easier it is to shop without a toddler in tow. After Jace woke up from his nap we played outside for a while before heading to Starbucks and Goodwill while Tate worked for a bit... because what Mother's Day is complete without Starbucks and Goodwill??!
Like usual, the only things we left Goodwill with were things for Jace. I found him two little plastic chairs for $2.02 which I'd been on the hunt for to go with a little black table that we have had from IKEA for a while, it's one of their LACK end tables, but we no longer use it and it's perfect size for a kids table. I also got him a golf set for $2.02. He has actually been playing with an identical golf set at one of his friends houses recently and I had planned to get him one next time we were at Walmart... but instead found one cheaper second hand. Jace is obsessed with his golf set and rolls the bag around the house and loves hitting the golf ball all over the place.

Speaking of that, I don't think I've mentioned the realization Tate and I have come to recently... we have a serious little athlete in our presence. Jace has always loved to play catch and kick ball with us, and I have been impressed by how well he throws the ball. But lately he's been showing off even more. He's hit a naughty phase of throwing things he shouldn't once in a while... for example, when we were out at a Mexican restaurant recently Jace was eating some crackers and decided he was sick of them, so he threw them one by one overhand, right into the basket of chips. He made a perfect basket each time. Then this morning at breakfast he threw his milk cup directly in my face (ok so maybe he wasn't a perfect angel the ENTIRE meal...) and hard, too! The kid has a serious arm on him and really good aim. He kind of puts my athletic abilities to shame already...

Ok, that reminded me of another new Jace thing... he said his first "sentance" this weekend also. We were all sitting at the table and something fell and was out of our line of vision and Jace said a very clear "Where'd it go?!" while lifting his hands up in question. Both Tate and I were pretty surprised at how clearly he said it, because usually he'll say jumbled sentances where we understand what point he's trying to make, but this was clear as day.
Anyways... back to Mother's Day. It was a great day spent as a family, and I couldn't feel happier to have been given this gift of motherhood. I love you Jace, more than you will ever know!
